Painted River Farm says good bye to our goats summer 2018

It is with heavy hearts here at Painted River Farm we say good bye to our amazing goat herd. We have been the caretakers for the goats for over 11 years now and we are very proud of what we have learned and achieved with the help of our great teachers the goats! Not to mention the amazing veterinarians at Langley Animal Clinic,  Dr Linde, Dr McDonald and all the intern vets and support staff that have helped us for many years and together we have all learned allot. The staff of nutritionists at Trouw Nutrition and the extra equipment and products needed for so many years from Nancy of Valley Livestock.

We came to this very hard decision over the last 2 years we have hung on as long as we could to the ladies. But with the agricultural sector as it is, the cost of fuel ,equipment ,feed products and wages that have all increased over time. We have been unable to increase the price of the goats over the years to off set the rising cost of production . We started out with a small herd of 55 and over the years increased the size to 300 goats on the farm. With the increase in the livestock we hired a great farm manager to help with the extra work . He has been a great asset to the farm and we will continue to have this great employee work with us for many more years to come . As we switch our direction back to our feed production and continue to focus our time, energy and funds on our  herd of cattle and our beef production.

We want to Thank all our Customers that have supported us over the years with the goats and hope to see them again and new customers in the future with our beef.
